A Great Furlough

Our furlough (home assignment) is up! Day after tomorrow, Aug. 16, we take off on our long journey back to Papua New Guinea (PNG). We will fly 14 hours from LAX to Manila, 6 hours to Port Moresby, PNG, then 1 ½ hours up to Ukarumpa. We praise God for a great 9 months in the States but now we turn our focus to this next two-year term overseas. We will be jumping back into the same work assignments we had before; me (Brena) in Staff Care and John in consultant checking and also managing the PNG translation consultant interns.

We would appreciate your prayers for safety as we travel, good health along the way (I’ve been feeling a little under the weather), and then a smooth adjustment back to life and work in PNG. As always, mixed feelings travel with me on the plane!

So thank you greatly for praying, giving financially, and offering your friendship so that we can continue doing Bible Translation.

Here are a few photo highlights from the last few weeks.

John and the Pacific Team met in Galveston TX for a few days of planning. Grant (left) has been a great addition to the team and he’s enjoying his job! While they were away, I stayed with Sara and baby Lillian.

After leaving Dallas, John and I enjoyed three nights at a Bed and Breakfast celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. God has been so good to us!

We are so thankful we could attend the wedding of Kairu and Charlotte! We praise God for bringing them together. They will be living in the Chattanooga, TN area for the next year.

All of our kids were able to make it to the wedding. It was wonderful to be together right before we leave!
